A SEAMINGLY SIMPLE IDEA!
AN INSPIRING IDEA CUT OUT FOR SUCCESS!
Wednesday 17th April, 2020: Rebecca Viner and her team of volunteer seamstresses have been scrubbing up on their sewing skills to support a unique lockdown mission.
Rebecca, 41 who runs her own business Inspired Curtains and Blinds, has enlisted the help of volunteer seamstress to make 250 urgently-needed scrubs for NHS workers and care providers.
Since the start of the pandemic there has been a nationwide shortage of scrubs as NHS workers and volunteers are unable to wear their own clothes and some have resorted to wearing paper ones.
Ashleigh Linsdell, a nurse at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, Lincolnshire, set up a Facebook group, For The Love Of Scrubs, last Monday and within a week more than 9,000 people joined to help make PPE clothing from their homes.
Rebecca responded and appealed for help on her own Facebook page, receiving a huge level of support from across her local community within days.
Rebecca says“ Since the start of the pandemic we’ve found ourselves without our usual orders of curtains and blinds. When we saw Ashleigh’s appeal, I knew we could help and got to work straight away”
Healthcare workers can get through more than 10 sets of scrubs per shift, especially those working in ‘covid zones’ who have to change more than usual to avoid spreading the virus.
Rebecca has asked for donations of fabric and duvet covers suitable for washing at 60°
or above. With such a great amount of donations, Rebecca’s team of volunteers has risen to 30 and they are all working hard to meet all the requests presented.
